The Northern Gateway Development Vehicle (NGDV) team visited Construction and Engineering students at Bury College to deliver a presentation and careers session to over 200 students.
The event formed part of on-going relationship building between the NGDV and local educational establishments, to ensure the huge benefits in investment and jobs growth from the Northern Gateway project are harnessed in the local communities.
In collaboration with Bury College Vice Principle, Charlie Deane and curriculum leads across the construction and engineering course, members of the NGDV and project consultants from Engineering firm Tetra Tech shared information about their career stories and their work in Building Services, Construction and Engineering.
The first phase plans, currently under consideration by Rochdale Council and Bury Council, would see the delivery of up to 6.5 million sq ft of employment space, suitable for a wide range of industries, with a focus on the advanced manufacturing and industrial and logistics sectors.
The afternoon gave students the opportunity to participate in a live Q&A, asking questions about the project which will drive future jobs and investment in the area.
This allowed students to interact with members of the NGDV team, with a range of backgrounds, and learn more about their career journeys and lived experiences on Russell WBHO constructions apprenticeship scheme.
The NGDV continues to engage with schools and businesses into the coming months, For anyone interested please contact: info@northerngateway.co.uk
